Our Story

Our Journey as a church began in 2019 when in a prayer meeting of Regions Beyond God spoke clearly to start new churches in Birmingham. As a response consultation took place with other churches in Birmingham. It was confirmed that many parts of the city has fewer churches making community impact. We started to pray online and God called people from across the world to join us in establishing new churches in Birmingham and beyond. Steve and Jo Whittington moved to Kingstanding In August 2021 from Hull to help support this vision. Christ Church started meeting in their home and then moved to the Broadway Academy in November 2021. Steve and Trudi Wicking from Maypole (Kings Heath) now are leading a new church and Abdullah and Namrata Jamal and have started meeting Moseley. We have launched Redemption Hill Church in the Delves Walsall with Coral and Racquel Cook .We have also launched a new church plant in the Hilltop,West Bromwich called Living Hope with Sarah and Brian Sidwell. Recently we have taken on a building in The Chuckery Walsall where we aim to open a new community venue and church. We also have a small group meeting in Cardiff and are praying about Bridgnorth in Shropshire.

Christ Church is part of a wider family of churches called Regions Beyond
Regions Beyond is a diverse family of churches in over 30 countries. Regions Beyond is led by a diverse Global Team of leaders. As a church, we receive care and support, particularly from Fusi Mokena from City Hill Church Dubai.

Regions Beyond has come from and is connected to newfrontiers a network of thousands of churches all over the world.

Our partnership with Regions Beyond means we’re part of a global family of churches that are committed to planting and strengthening churches across the nations.

The desire in Regions Beyond is that each church should be a loving, prayerful, worshipping community, centered on Jesus, rooted in the Word of God, and fully empowered by the Holy Spirit to be effective witnesses.

This means that at Christ Church we carry a passion not just for our city and for the UK but for the nations and unreached people groups of the world, and we purposefully pursue this by resourcing and releasing people, finance, and expertise.
Therefore directly we love to serve Regions churches in the UK, Pakistan, Nepal ,Nigeria and beyond.

Welcome

No matter where you are from, if you have previous experience of church or not, we know it can be an intimidating thing to come to a new church for the first time. We believe that if you come to Christ Church you will find a warm welcome from people who will try their best to help you feel at home. We will explain anything that you don't understand, and will make sure you've enjoyed your time with us as much as possible. Whether you are new to Birmingham or to church, we would love to meet you.

Sunday

We meet every Sunday at South Aston United Reformed Church.
There's a car park available and also on-street parking.
Please join us at 10 am for refreshments.
Our service starts at 10:30 am and you are welcome to stay for lunch with us which we have fortnightly.

What to expect

A typical service at Christ Church lasts an hour and a half. We start with a time of singing (we call it worship) we have news from our churches around the world and a relevant message based on the Bible. We focus on Jesus and teach messages that can be put into practice right away. There is an opportunity to be prayed for and we regularly have communion.

Children

We love having children with us and do not mind them making noise. We have a table for primary age children in the same hall for children to colour and do a craft during the talk.
For babies and toddlers, we have a staffed creche fornightly and on other weeks a space where you can play with your children
We have clear safeguarding procedures in place to ensure that your children are safe and well cared for while they are with us.

We know it can be a challenge to come to a new church, so if you would like someone to meet you before a meeting to help show you around and guide you through what is going to happen, then please do get in touch.
