Our Vision and Values

Christ Church exists to see the love of God made known across Birmingham and beyond.

We  are not about being the slickest, trendiest church, but a place where people can belong and play their part in God's unfolding mission.

Like any family, there are certain values that we want to mark as a church family. These values are include:

Gospel Centrality

We believe the good news of Jesus is central to everything we are as individuals and as a church. We never move on from this gospel of grace, but seek to continually move into a deeper understanding and experience of the gospel.

Community

The gospel creates a new community that brings together diverse people to live in unity as we pursue Jesus and His mission. This community takes place through local churches where deep relationships are pursued. For us, the church is not a building or a service time, but who we are as a hospitable community on a mission together.

Mission

We believe Jesus has sent the church into the world for the mission of making, maturing, and multiplying his disciples in all nations. Embracing our identity as sent by Jesus is essential to understanding that all of life is a mission.

Serving

Just as Jesus sacrificially served us, so too do we want to sacrificially serve those in our church, as well as our communities. We want to do this by using our gifts and resources for the needs of others, especially the poor and the powerless.

Diversity

One of the best expressions of the unique unity that the gospel of Jesus brings is through having diverse people embrace that gospel in community together. We are intentionally seeking to be a church that reflects the beautiful diversity in our neighbourhood through multiple generations, socioeconomic statuses, and ethnicities.

Equipping

We believe that each person has gifts given to them by God that will help build us together as a community on a mission for Jesus. We are committed to helping people identify, develop and deploy their gifting even when we fail and make mistakes. We are also wanting to learn.

Beliefs

We adhere to the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith

Planning your Visit

Welcome

No matter where you are from, if you have previous experience of church or not, we know it can be an intimidating thing to come to a new church for the first time. We believe that if you come to Christ Church you will find a warm welcome from people who will try their best to help you feel at home. We will explain anything that you don't understand, and will make sure you've enjoyed your time with us as much as possible. Whether you are new to Birmingham or to church, we would love to meet you.

Sunday

We meet every Sunday at South Aston United Reformed Church.
There's a car park available and also on-street parking.
Please join us at 10 am for refreshments.
Our service starts at 10:30 am and you are welcome to stay for lunch with us which we have fortnightly.

What to expect

A typical service at Christ Church lasts an hour and a half. We start with a time of singing (we call it worship) we have news from our churches around the world and a relevant message based on the Bible. We focus on Jesus and teach messages that can be put into practice right away. There is an opportunity to be prayed for and we regularly have communion.
